Driveway cleaning in Limerick
Joints cleared, surface cleaned, sand back in. Price your drive by the square metre, see how each surface is cleaned, and what to ask first.

A driveway in Limerick is usually cleaned in one visit: weeds and moss lifted from the joints, a pre-treatment on oil and algae, a rotary surface cleaner over the whole area, then the run-off and debris cleared. Block paving gets fresh sand in the joints at the end.
HomePros.ie's 2026 guide puts a small driveway at €80–€120, a medium one at €120–€180 and a large one at €180–€250 (VAT not stated). Bark.com's Limerick average is €120.

How this is worked out
- Driveways: HomePros.ie's 2026 size bands and Spooners' €2.50–€5.00 per m². The range runs from the lower of the two to the higher. HomePros marks its large-drive band as Dublin rates.
- Patios: HomePros.ie, €3–€6 per m². Paths: Spooners' driveway rate.
- Walls: HomePros.ie's €4–€7 per m² of wall if you give the area, its €400–€800 for an average two-storey home for 3 or 4 sides, and Squeeky Clean's starting prices for 1 or 2 sides.
- Extras: re-sanding €2–€4 per m² (HomePros.ie, block paving only), sealing €4–€10 per m² and stains €20–€50 (Spooners).
- VAT: a VAT-registered company charges 13.5% on cleaning at a house (Revenue). The VAT line adds it, in case a quote is before VAT.
- It's an estimate from national published prices, not a quote. No Limerick company we found publishes its own power washing price list.
Driveway cleaning prices
These are the size bands in HomePros.ie's 2026 Irish price guide. They're typical figures, not a Limerick company's own list. We looked for a Limerick power washing company that publishes its own price list and didn't find one we could cite. So the ranges here come from national guides, with a Wicklow price list for comparison. Treat them as a guide, not a quote.
| Driveway | Size | Typical price |
|---|---|---|
| Small driveway | 20–30 m² | €80–€120 |
| Medium driveway | 30–50 m² | €120–€180 |
| Large driveway | 50–80 m² | €180–€250 |

For comparison, Squeeky Clean in Kilcoole, Co. Wicklow, publishes a 1-car driveway from €120 and a 2-car driveway from €150, including VAT, with areas over 85 m² from €2.50 per m² (Squeeky Clean). Spooners Cleaning Services puts driveway power washing at €2.50–€5.00 per m², or €40–€60 per hour.

How much drive is there in Limerick?
Driveway prices go by area, and the number of cars is a fair clue to it. In the 2022 census, 46% of Limerick households had two or more cars and 14% had none (CSO). In Limerick city and suburbs, where more people live in flats, 34% had two or more; in Annacotty 58% and Castleconnell 46% (CSO). Squeeky Clean prices a 2-car drive from €150, VAT included.

What a driveway clean involves
- Walk the drive first. The surface, the stains, the drainage and where the water will run. Cars move off, bins and pots come off the drive.
- Clear the joints.Weeds and moss are scraped or blasted out of the joints, especially on block paving and along the edges.
- Pre-treat.Oil, rust and green algae get a cleaning solution first. Some marks never come out completely, and a good company says so before starting.
- Clean the surface.A rotary surface cleaner on a pressure washer cleans an even strip at a time, which avoids the stripes a hand lance leaves.
- Rinse and clear. The slurry is washed off the drive and away from doors and gullies, and the edges and kerbs are rinsed.
- Re-sand, if it's block paving.Kiln-dried sand goes back into the joints once the surface is dry. See cobble lock re-sanding.
Different surfaces, different methods
- Block paving (cobble lock). Cleans up well, but the jet takes the sand out of the joints. Budget for re-sanding.
- Plain concrete. Takes a strong clean. Old oil stains soak in and may only fade.
- Tarmac. Softer than concrete. Too much pressure, held too close, can loosen the stone chippings on the surface. A lower setting and a wider nozzle are used.
- Imprinted concrete. The sealer on top wears. A clean can show up where it has gone, and the company may suggest resealing.
- Gravel and loose stone. Not a power washing job. Weeds are treated instead.
Spooners makes the same point in its guide: asphalt needs a gentler touch, and gravel or stone drives often need more manual work.
What moves the price
- Size. The bigger the area, the longer it takes. Most companies price by area or by the hour.
- How dirty it is. Years of moss and black algae take longer than a drive cleaned last spring.
- Stains. Spooners lists stain removal as an extra of €20–€50, depending on how bad it is.
- Extras. Re-sanding (€2–€4 per m²) and sealing (HomePros: €50–€200+; Spooners: €4–€10 per m²) are usually added on top of the clean.
- Water and access. The company needs an outside tap and room for the van. Say if there's no tap at the front.
What to ask before you book
- Is the price fixed, or by the hour?
- Is VAT in the price? (13.5% if the company is registered)
- Are the joints weeded, and is re-sanding included or extra?
- What happens to the slurry and run-off?
- Will the stains come out completely, or only fade?
- Is a treatment to slow regrowth included?
When to do it
Dry, mild weather. Counting days without rain at Shannon Airport, April, May and June come out driest, with about 14–15 a month; November has about 8 (Met Éireann, our count). Re-sanding and sealing need a dry surface. Many people book in spring, after a wet winter has left the drive green.
Listing a company's prices here doesn't mean it's the company we pass your request to.
Questions people ask
How much is driveway cleaning in Limerick?
HomePros.ie's 2026 guide gives €80–€120 for a small driveway (20–30 m²), €120–€180 for a medium one (30–50 m²) and €180–€250 for a large one (50–80 m²). Spooners puts driveways at €2.50–€5.00 per m². Neither states VAT. Bark.com's Limerick average is €120.
How long does a driveway clean take?
A small drive is often done in a few hours. A large or very dirty one, with re-sanding, can take most of a day. Ask when the company prices it.
Will power washing damage my driveway?
It can, if the pressure is wrong for the surface. Tarmac and older concrete need a gentler setting. Block paving loses sand from the joints, which should be replaced.
Is VAT included in driveway cleaning prices?
HomePros.ie, Spooners and Bark.com don't say; HomePros' own FAQ says most providers include VAT in their quotes. Squeeky Clean's Wicklow list includes it. A VAT-registered company charges the reduced rate, 13.5%, on cleaning at a house (Revenue). Ask for a written price with VAT stated.
Will the oil stains come out?
Fresh stains often lift. Old oil soaked into concrete or paving may only fade. Spooners lists stain removal as an extra of €20–€50.
Do I need to be at home?
Usually only at the start, to move the cars and show where the outside tap is. Agree that when you book.
